Conlon, Anastasia
By Canton CitizenAnastasia Conlon, of Edgewood, KY, passed away on July 4. Born April 27, 1924, in Jersey City, NJ, she was formerly of Westbury, NY, Canton, and Camp Hill, PA.
Predeceased by her beloved relations, including her parents, Leon and Rose Zachko, her grandmother, Roseanna Fitzpatrick, her husband, Walter J. Conlon, and her sister, Rose Washburn.
Survived by 12 beloved children: Walter of Muscatine, IA, Michael of Slippery Rock, PA, Roseanna Harris of Walnut Creek, CA, Eileen Burkhardt of West Babylon, NY, Julia Conlon Levy of Monroe, CT, Vincent of Castleton, NY, Anastasia of Canton, Cecilia Turoff of Libertyville, IL, Kathleen Hinge of Tarrytown, NY, Sheilah Bashford of Fort Thomas, KY, Christine Conlon Howell of Killingworth, CT, and Emily Germano of Massena, NY. Proud grandmother of 25 grandchildren, including Julianne and Emily O’Connell of Canton and South Boston.
Anastasia graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City, class of 1941, and retired from the U.S. Post Office in Hicksville, NY. Member of St. John the Evangelist’s choir in Canton, loyal donor to the Canton Food Pantry, and an active literacy volunteer.
No visiting hours: She donated her body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Memorial mass to be held July 23 at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church of Jersey City, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Baptist RC Church – Organ Repair and sent to the church at 3026 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ 07306-3604.
