Mondor, Edward J.
By Canton CitizenEdward J. Mondor, 92, of Canton, passed away April 11 at the Hellenic Nursing Home.
Born and raised in Norwood, he graduated from Norwood High School in 1945 and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Norfolk County Trust/Baybank for 35 years before retiring. He has lived in Canton for the last 64 years and was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton and the Norwood K of C.
He was a member of the 1943 undefeated baseball team for Norwood High and played baseball in Fenway Park when he was 16 years old and skated on the first hockey team. He was a 2010 member of the Norwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his backyard.
Loving husband of Elda (Piana). Father of Michelle Mogan of Canton, Linda Mondor of Canton, and Cathy Mondor and her partner, Richard Hand, of Brockton. Grandfather of Nicholas Mogan and his wife, Justine, of NJ. Great-grandfather of Jordon Mogan of NJ. Brother of Jean Knowles of Topsfield, Robert Mondor and his wife, Barbara, of Stoughton, Patricia McGowan of NH, and the late Louise McNally, Helen Campisano, Claire Dwyer, and Eleanor MacRae. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and his four-legged friends Jethro and Jettee of Brockton.
Due to the current COVID-19 Health Department directives, services will be private and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
