Fitzgerald, James E.
By Canton CitizenJames E. Fitzgerald (Jef), 60, of Bucksport, ME, died of cancer on April 11, 2020. Jef faced his last challenge as he lived his life, courageously with a kind and loving spirit.
Son of Patricia Olsen and the late John Fitzgerald, Jef was raised in Canton with his siblings, Donna Lavoie, John Fitzgerald, Susan Fitzgerald, Carla Fitzgerald and Ellen Fitzgerald.
Jef is survived by his six children, who he was devoted to, Grace, Peter, Timothy, Silas, Paul and Joy. He has six beloved grandchildren, Gabriel, Alana, Peter, Jonathan, Zechariah and Alexandria, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunt and cousins.
Jef was engaged to Tatiana Alejandra Borja Tawil, who cared for him during his illness.
Jef graduated from Canton High School with the Class of 1977. He attended Boston Architectural College, received his associate’s degree in architecture from Blue Hills Technical College (now Massasoit) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono.
Jef was the city planner for Ellsworth, ME and prior to that the tax assessor for Bucksport, ME. He had many hobbies and talents, including gardening, music and the outdoors. He designed and built the home where he raised his family in Maine.
Loved by all, Jef, a deeply spiritual man, will have a memorial service at a future date.
