Canton wrestler captures gold at Bay State Games

Canton wrestler Chris Sullivan captured the gold in the 112-pound weight class at the 2011 Bay State Games. Sullivan, a sophomore at Canton High School, defeated Jacob Powell in the semifinals 11-2 and then Marcel Laplante 2-0 in the intense overtime gold medal round.

Also, congratulations to Canton resident Rory Donovan, a student at Cardinal Spellman High School, for winning the silver medal as a member of the Southeast boys’ basketball team (9th/10th grade). Donovan led Southeast with 14 points in a near upset of Coastal (58-52) in the gold medal game, played on Sunday, July 17, at Emmanuel College in Boston.
