Canton Softball Updates: Over 30, Men’s, Women’s

CFD advances in Over 30 Men’s Softball playoffs

The Canton Fire Department softball team awaits the winner of the Schneiders and Schneiders and Legion teams before advancing to the next stage of the Canton Over-30 Softball League playoffs.

CFD defeated Red Ball 18-16 in the final game of a double-elimination tournament. Schneiders and Schneiders and Legion are both 1-0 in the playoffs, and will play the final game Sunday, August 14, to determine who will face the CFD.

The finals are expected to start on Sunday, August 21.

Canton Men’s Softball playoffs get underway

Team seedings have been announced as the regular season concluded last week and the playoffs get underway this week for the Canton Men’s Softball League.

Canton Junction tops the league with an 18-1 record, followed by Golden China at 16-4, Halfway Cafe at 15-5, Hannington’s at 12-6 and T&B Pub at 12-8.

Lewis is the sixth seed, finishing at 10-10, followed by Centerfields at 9-10 and Team Six at 8-12. Beckett’s and M.J. Enterprises are tied for the ninth and 10th spots at 3-17 and Big D’s finishes at 2-18.

The first round of the playoffs was due to begin August 9-10, with the last four teams facing each other to determine the last entries into the playoffs.

On Thursday, August 11, Junction is due to face Team Six at Devoll Field with Golden China facing Centerfield’s at Messinger Field.

On Friday, August 12, Halfway is due to face Lewis at Devoll with Hannington’s facing T&B at Messinger.

Playoff action resumes on Monday, August 15, with Junction facing Team Six at Messinger and Golden China facing Centerfields at Devoll. On Tuesday, August 16, Halfway Cafe will oppose Lewis at Messinger and Hannington’s will face T&B at Devoll.

Teams that win two of the three games of the series will advance to the next round of the playoffs, with re-seeding based on regular season record to determine who will oppose each other.

Canton Women’s Softball League Results

August 1: Appraisal’s beat KT’s/Maver Memorials/Mutual Bank 10-7; Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home beat Big D’s 11-4; Alamo Café beat Golden China 11-7.

August 3: American Legion beat Appraisal’s 17-11 in nine innings; KT’s beat Golden China 6-4; Alamo beat BZ & Co. 9-6.
