Joseph C. Farara, 88, of Sharon, formerly of Canton, passed away at his home on August 17.

Born in South Boston, he graduated from Dorchester High School and attended Louisiana State and Boston University. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 708th Air Material Squadron during WWII. Sgt. Farara received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon.

Mr. Farara worked as the executive wool salesman for the Top Company in Boston. He was a member of the Blue Hill Lodge and the Shriners.

Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Mulcahy). Loving father of Joseph M. and his wife, Nancy, of VT, and Lisa J. Lyons and her husband, George, of Foxboro. Grandfather of James and Richard Lyons, both of Foxboro, and Keegan Farara of VT.

A funeral service was held Monday morning, August 22, in Trinity Episcopal Church in Canton. Interment private. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 200 L Street, Suite 710, Washington DC 20036. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
