Softball playoff update: men’s and women’s leagues

3 eliminated from Men’s Softball League playoffs ~

Centerfield’s, Lewis and Beckett’s were all eliminated from the Canton Men’s Softball League playoffs last week, while Hannington’s and T & B Pub ended the week locked in a duel for a top-four spot.

As of August 21, the top five seeds were, in order: Canton Junction, Golden China, Halfway Café, Hannington’s and T & B.

In playoff action, Junction beat Beckett’s 12-8 and 12-1, and Golden China took two of three from Centerfield’s (5-1 and 8-7) after dropping the first game 12-10. Also, Halfway Café defeated Lewis in consecutive games to advance to the next round.

In the series between Hannington’s and T & B, Hannington’s took the first game 14-7 and needs one more win to advance. The two teams were scheduled to play Monday, August 22, and Tuesday, August 23, if necessary.

Women’s Softball League announces playoff seedings

The Canton Women’s Softball League playoffs were due to begin this week with a double-elimination tournament. The American Legion team gets the top seed with a 12-1 record. KT’s/Maver Memorials/Mutual Bank has the second seed at 11-2, followed by Appraisals (9-4), Alamo (8-5), Golden China (5-8), New Turnpike (5-8), Dockray & Thomas (4-9), BZ & Co. (4-9) and Big D’s (0-12).
