Benefit held in memory of the late Dickie MacLeod
By Canton CitizenOn Saturday, August 27, friends of former Canton resident Richard “Dickie” MacLeod held a fundraising event to support an education fund that has been set up with TD Bank North for his two children.
MacLeod passed away unexpectedly on July 8 at the age of 42. Son of the late Richard H. MacLeod Sr. and Mary L. (Flood) MacLeod, he left behind his two sons, Jack and Sam, his brother, Dave, and two sisters, Maryellen Galvin and Suzanne Stevens, plus many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was a 1987 graduate of Canton High School.
MacLeod was a well-known and highly respected member of the local community. He was employed as the contractor services manager at Mansfield Home Depot as well as general manager of Waxy O’Connor’s in Foxboro. He was also a dedicated public servant, previously holding the constituent services director position in the Massachusetts Senate, where he worked tirelessly helping his fellow neighbors on a daily basis.
On Saturday, MacLeod’s friends held a pig roast celebration on the patio at Waxy O’Connor’s, featuring live entertainment, raffles and a silent auction.
Event organizers wish to express their gratitude to Waxy O’Connor’s for hosting, and to all those who generously donated to the raffle and silent auction.
For those who would like to donate but were unable to attend, donations can be mailed to: The Jack & Sam MacLeod College Fund, P.O. Box 630, Canton, MA 02021.
