Whitaker, Ernest N.

Ernest N. Whitaker, of Quincy, formerly of Canton, passed away July 16 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Dorchester, he attended Boston schools and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was the owner of Teltron Engineering Inc. in Foxboro for over 50 years. He lived life passionately, cherishing every moment with his wife, children and grandchildren — a truly dedicated father and grandfather. Summers were spent in New Hampshire where he took great pleasure patiently teaching family, friends, relatives and neighbors to waterski. Winters were spent in Florida where he enjoyed his retirement years with his wife. There he spent many days golfing with his friends and enjoying the ocean. He was and always will be a blessing in the lives of those he touched.

Beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Amirault). Father of Ernest “Ron” Whitaker and his wife, Daria, of Milton, Carol Downey and her husband, James, of Rockland, Dolores Johnson and her husband, Steven, of Foxboro, Joanne Colassi and her husband, George, of Norton, and the late Richard “Ricky” Whitaker. Brother of the late Charles, Edgar, Lawrence, Elizabeth Neal, and Dorothy Ferolito. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
