Canton native Jessi Gould, a senior forward on the Westfield State University field hockey team, scored two goals and her 100th career point to lead the Owls to a 3-1 victory over Becker College in the season opener on September 1.

Gould’s golden goal came in dramatic fashion as she scored off a rebound of a teammate’s missed shot with 23 seconds left in the game. Gould gave Westfield a 1-0 halftime lead with an unassisted goal with 10:59 remaining in the first half.

Gould, a former three-sport athlete at Canton High School, now has an even 100 career points at the collegiate level — 43 goals and 14 assists — and moves into second place on Westfield’s all-time scoring charts, surpassing her head coach, Heather Cabral, who scored 99 points (43 goals, 13 assists) for the Owls from 1988-91.
