Garden Club presents ‘Holiday Doors’ contest

By

As the holiday season approaches and you begin to think about putting up your outdoor holiday decorations, the Canton Garden Club would like you to consider entering the 2021 Holiday Doors of Canton contest. The Garden Club is looking for several Canton residences and businesses who would like to join them in some holiday merriment!

The contest is quite simple: First, print out the registration form and rules found at cantongardenclub.org, or stop by Floral Scents or Helen’s Hairstyling to pick up an entry form and hear more about the contest. Secondly, fill out and mail the entry form and $20 entry fee (check made payable to Canton Garden Club) to Holiday Doors of Canton, c/o Diann Silvia, 21 Standish Dr., Canton, MA 02021. Register no later than Friday, November 19.

Now the fun begins! Decorate your entryway with holiday cheer. Design categories are as follows: Traditional, Modern, and Nature Inspired. Have your doorway decorated and complete by Wednesday, December 8. Judging will be done on Friday, December 10. At that time the club will send a photographer to photograph your entryway. A map of all entryways will be printed in the Canton Citizen the week prior to the event.

For added fun and to get the community involved, a scavenger hunt will take place on Saturday, December 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. At each entryway the club will incorporate a “special ornament.” Take a photo on your phone and then come to the Garden Club’s annual Greens & Bows Sale by 1 p.m. Donate $10 and receive one free raffle ticket for each special ornament photographed.

The Garden Club’s Greens & Bows Sale will be held in conjunction with the Holiday Doors contest and scavenger hunt on December 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Paul Revere Heritage Museum, located at 4 Rolling Mill Way (inside the Northern Spy Restaurant).

Winners of the Holiday Doors contest will be announced at 1 p.m. during the sale.

In addition to spreading holiday cheer, the events will double as a fundraiser for the Canton Garden Club and 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly toward the club’s civic beautification efforts, scholarship fund, and Arbor Day programs for the town of Canton.
