By Canton CitizenDonald S. DaSilva of Canton passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton.
The son of the late Raul and Mildred (Sterritt) DaSilva, he was born in Dorchester and lived the last 51 years in Canton. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Walsh) DaSilva, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Survived by his children: Christine McHugh and her husband, Paul, of Mansfield, Thomas DaSilva of Kirkland, WA, and the late Brian DaSilva. Loving grandfather to Sean McHugh and his wife, Candace, of Mansfield, Laura McHugh of Taunton, and Ryan McHugh of Mansfield. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Robert, Paul, and James DaSilva, and Carol Hetherington. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He worked as a system analyst for State Street Corp. before retiring. He loved spending time with his family and traveling, spending many winters in Florida. His favorite sports teams were the New England Patriots and New York Yankees. Veteran of the United States Army.
Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church (formerly St. John the Evangelist) in Canton on Thursday (today) at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday prior to the Mass from 9-10 a.m. Burial will be private.
