Healy, John P.
By Canton CitizenJohn Patrick Healy passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2022, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Patrick Healy of Newbridge, Ireland, and Catherine Keohane of Clonakilty, Ireland. John was raised in the Forest Hills area of Jamaica Plain, Boston. He attended St. Andrew’s Elementary, Cathedral High School, and Stonehill College in Easton. In 1966, he married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Nancy Denise Green. They raised their children in Plainville and Canton.
After college, John joined Honeywell as a programmer. He continued in the computer industry at Compugraphic (Agfa) and ended his years at Putnam Investments, working as a managing director of information technologies. In 2002, John and Nancy retired to Cape Cod in West Harwich, where they were active members of Allen Harbor Yacht Club and Cranberry Valley Golf Course. They wintered in St. Petersburg, FL, where they were members of Isla Del Sol Yacht and Golf Club. John cherished every moment he spent with his family and friends. John’s wonderful laugh, gentle manner and his impressive knowledge of all things sports will be sorely missed by his friends and colleagues.
In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy, he is survived by his daughters, Dr. Kristen Gunning and her husband, John, of Canton and Carolyn Walker and her husband, Frank, of Lowell. John is predeceased by his son, Sean Patrick Healy. He also leaves behind six loving grandchildren: Patrick Gunning, Connor and Catherine “Katie” Lawless, and Kevin, Michael and Meghan Gunning. He was the brother of Mary Gallant and the late Dennis Healy. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Mary Jacobs and Karen Green, and brother-in-law John Green, as well as many nieces and nephews. They are all truly heartbroken by his passing and were honored to have had him in their lives.
Visiting hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rte. 27) in Stoughton, on Sunday, February 6, from 2-5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated the next day, Monday, February 7, at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Church (formerly St. John the Evangelist), 700 Washington Street, Canton.
