Philip P. Sheridan, 70, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late J. Frank Sheridan and Katherine (Collins) Sheridan of Orleans. Philip was born in Cambridge on December 29, 1950, and he and his five siblings were raised in Canton. He attended Xaverian Brothers High School, Class of 1968. He and his wife, Christine (Eckler), were married on August 17, 1973. Philip and Christine resided in Mansfield, where they raised their three children.

Philip began his career in the Army Reserve and took great pride in his work as an engineer on the USS Constitution. Following that work, he held different positions within the furniture business until 1983 when he began a job with Hallsmith Sysco in Norton. He started by working in the warehouse and was promoted several times before ultimately becoming the director of warehouse operations for many years before retiring. Upon retirement in 2014, he and Christine moved to Newry, Maine, to be closer to their grandsons.

Philip was a loving and devoted husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend. Beloved husband of Christine (Eckler) Sheridan. Loving father of Matthew Sheridan and his wife, Alicia, of Plainville, Melissa Sheridan and her husband, Andrew Beaton, of Greenwood, ME, and Stacey Larson and her husband, Christopher, of Tega Cay, SC. Devoted grandfather to Dylan, Owen, Eagan and CJ. Loyal brother to Jay Sheridan and his wife, Jane, Linda Keohane, Eileen Berry, and Kathy Golota and her husband, Tom. He was the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews who he held dear to his heart.

Philip was passionate about hockey and spent his free time playing in a men’s hockey league well into his 60s. He was a longtime youth hockey coach for the Tri-County Saints and Sharpe Hockey. In addition, he enjoyed genealogy research, skiing, golfing, music, and spending time with his four grandsons. He was also a deacon at the Pleasant Valley Bible Church in Bethel, ME. Most recently, Philip was part of the community initiative to bring a skating rink to the town of Bethel, ME. He believed the entire community would benefit from it for years to come.

A celebration of Phil’s life will take place on Friday, March 25, at 6 p.m. at The Chateau, 48 Bay Road in Norton. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend.
