News Notes: Town to host pre-ATM public info session
By Mike BergerIn preparation for the 2022 annual town meeting, which begins on Monday, May 9, the town will host a webinar next Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. where various departments, boards and committees will provide an overview of this year’s warrant articles. The public is invited to attend and can also submit questions in advance by emailing atm@town.canton.ma.us by noon on Tuesday, April 26.
COVID Update: Booster Clinic Today
Continuing its COVID-19 vaccination series, the Canton Board of Health will hold two additional second-booster clinics (Moderna) on Friday, April 29, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and Monday, May 2, from 3-5 p.m. at the BOH office at 79 Pleasant Street. In other COVID news, the Board of Health reported 24 new cases of COVID-19 in Canton during the second week of April — an increase of one from the week prior. The overall positive test rate stood at 3.31 percent. For the period of April 7-13, the Canton School Department reported four new cases of COVID-19 among students and staff.
CFD responds to Sharon dumpster fire
On Thursday, April 14, at approximately 7 p.m., Canton firefighters responded to a mutual aid call for a construction dumpster fire outside a home on Canton Street in Sharon. The Canton crew arrived to find a Sharon engine already on scene and attempting to extinguish the fire. They hooked up to the nearest fire hydrant to supply water to the Sharon engine and also assisted with removing debris from the dumpster to ensure all fire was extinguished. Firefighters returned safely to Canton at 8 p.m.
