McCarthy, William J.

William J. McCarthy, 81, of Canton, formerly of Stoughton and Needham, passed away August 9.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Roslindale and graduated from Boston Technical High School, Suffolk University, and received his master’s in education from Boston University. He was a history and economics teacher for Needham High School for many years before retiring. After retiring he enjoyed traveling and taught in Vienna, Austria.

Beloved brother of Jean Finnigan of Canton. Uncle of Susan Desjardins and her husband, Marc, of Canton and Carol Gray and her husband, Stephen, of Milford, NH. Great uncle of Jacob and Nicole Desjardins and Emma Gray.
