Kenneally, Gerard F.
By Canton CitizenGerard F. Kenneally, 77, of Canton, passed away October 28 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Dorchester, he graduated from English High School and the University of New Hampshire, where he played baseball on the team that went to the College World Series. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and worked for many years as a probation officer for the Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham before retiring in November of 2004.
A Canton resident for the past 39 years, Gerard was president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, past president of the St. John School Association, past president and coach for Canton Little League, and was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Parish. He was also a member of the Boston Park League Hall of Fame and McKeon VFW Post in Dorchester.
Gerard was an avid poet and lover of Irish music and was the consummate family man, always quick with a smile and a kind word.
Beloved husband of Elaine M. (Sullivan). Father of Margaret O’Neil and her husband, Paul, of Stoughton; Timothy and his wife, Kimberly, of Foxboro; Terence and his wife, Elizabeth, of Arlington; Erin King and her husband, Michael, of Wrentham; and Eileen Sharkey and her husband, Brendan, of Marshfield. Brother of Carol Carver of Marshfield, Virginia Dunn of NY, Maureen Ryan of Natick, and the late George Kenneally. Also survived by 15 grandchildren.
A funeral mass was held Wednesday morning, November 2, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 700 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
