Kramer, Phyllis
By Canton CitizenPhyllis Kramer, 86, of Newton Center and a longtime resident of Needham, passed away on September 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cambridge in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Simi Kramer. Loving mother of Robin (Leonard) Galinsky of Canton, Brad (Kim) Shurdut of Fishers, Indiana, and Scott (Min) Shurdut of Maynard. Loving grandmother of Arielle Galinsky and Qiana Shurdut. Phyllis is also predeceased by her dear brothers Sherman and Edwin Kramer.
Phyllis grew up in Lynn, where she developed a lifelong passion for the North Shore. She graduated from Lynn Classical High School and attended LaSalle Junior College and Boston University. Driven by her lifelong caring and compassion to help others and to make a difference in people’s lives, she founded and served as president of Secur-Planning Associates where she focused on financial planning and advocacy for families with special needs children and mentored countless others in this specialized area.
Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and especially liked her day trips exploring New England and its wonderful sights and cuisine. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the performing arts and music. Most of all, Phyllis was lovingly and deeply devoted to her children and beautiful grandchildren and their many diverse interests.
A funeral service was held Sunday at the Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street in Canton. Interment at Sharon Memorial Park. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choosing.
