CFD wishes Chief Doody well after 27 years of service
By Canton CitizenThe Canton Fire Department, along with friends, family, residents, elected officials and representatives from numerous neighboring departments, gathered at the Canton Fire Station on Friday, September 30, to wish Fire Chief Charles Doody well in his retirement and congratulate him on 27 years of dedicated service to the department and the town of Canton.
A lifelong resident and son of a longtime Canton firefighter, Doody joined the CFD in 1995 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming chief in 2009. During his tenure he also acted as the town’s emergency management director and served as the public face of its COVID-19 Task Force. He now leaves for his new role as Canton’s town administrator.
To mark the end of his final shift with the department, Chief Doody received a police escort home as he left the station aboard Engine 3. To view a video of Chief Doody leaving the station, go to vimeo.com/755929738.
